URBAN AGRICULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Urban agriculture is a concept that is becoming increasingly important in ensuring the food security of the population in cities. Global disruption and accelerating urbanization have created concerns among citizens and policymakers about a continued and sufficient food supply in cities. In addition, climate change and the decreasing number of green spaces in cities require the need for certain environmental solutions to build more resilient cities. Unlike rural agriculture, whose narrow goal is profit, urban agriculture focuses more on the social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. This paper proves the socio-economic benefits of this concept, which is intensively studied in the scientific and professional literature, and which is increasingly being applied in the practices of larger cities.
