Abstract

Monasteries represent the preserved cultural assets of humanity, but also because of their great importance for the community, they have exceptional touristic and economic values. In contemporary mass tourism, religious tourism is associated with environment, sustainable development, rural development and preservation of important sites. The paper discusses the relationship between tourism and religious sites that are considered both cultural and natural heritage. The research was conducted in the royal monastery Studenica which is located in the center of the biosphere reserve „Golija-Studenica” in the Republic of Serbia and which is on the UNESCO list of world material heritage. Quantitative research was conducted using a randomized causation questionnaire and mixed data collection techniques in young people up to 35 years of age. The results were processed in PLS SEM 4.0 software. The results of the research will show the motivation of religious consciousness that is inspired by every tourist who comes and visits monasteries. Research directly or indirectly shows the effect of a tourist's educational potential on the tourist experience, as well as other tourist motives besides religious ones, such as ecological, rural and cultural.
